The peer editing process today was very beneficial to me not only because I had the opportunity to view someone else’s paper but also to receive beneficial feedback on my paper regarding things that I overlooked when writing and editing my paper. I noticed some different points while editing today when thinking about what we have read from Chapter 10 in regards that editing should be treated as an almost unfinished process, but not necessarily the final product. I also received a respectable insight with this chapter when reading my partner’s paper today while thinking about how you should consider the writers responsibilities and to analyze an early draft. Often times it goes unnoticed to put yourself in the writer’s shoes and to think of their responsibility. Nevertheless, Chapter 10 gives a beneficial insight towards that particular topic upon responsibility. As stated above, it was very helpful to have someone else’s opinion and views on your work stated so that you don’t look at your paper from a biased perspective. My partner was very insightful with tips and help towards my paper and I appreciated the extra help while trying to finalize my paper. I think rereading each others paper would have been a beneficial tactic while editing the others paper because you have the ability to catch more mistakes and add more comments in than you would have from the beginning of reading the paper. I did not read my partners paper twice over, but now that I look back on the class day, I realize that it would have been more beneficial to my partner if I would have reread the paper and added more insightful comments the second time around.
This blog is a forum for our class to discuss ideas for writing, comment on readings, and generally communicate outside of the classroom about various topics in reading and writing.
