I believe peer editing is a great way to improve a persons skills as a writer. It allows your peers, which have the most influence, to critique you as a writer. It also helps with new ideas to improve the paper. In the past my teachers did not pay much attention to peer editing, and i believe my papers suffered from it. I would always try to have a friend read over it and give me their true feeling towards the paper. This wasn't always the most positive advise, but it helped me improve my skills. In class on Monday I took away some very helpful remarks. I noticed some of my sentences were not the strongest, and I improved them. Peer editing also helped me find little grammar mistakes that i rushed over. I enjoyed having someone else give me pointers and help me come up with ideas to better my paper.
One of most important things I found in chapter ten to help peer edit is to understand the writer's and reader's responsibilities. The writes responsibilities are to know what issues motivate you, what is the thesis and conclusion, and also what specific aspect of the essay ware you least satisfied with. As far as a reader it is important to know what issues motivate the writer, what the writer's thesis is, and what passages of the report are the most effective. Doing all these steps will help not only improve your paper, but anyone who you edit as well.
