My senior year in high school really opened up my eyes to the world. Throughout high school I was always striving to get good grades, but not really for any purpose other than having good grades. Senior Year, you really have to start thinking about the future, and what you want to do with your life. It didn't really hit me until I started filling out college applications that I had to decide what I wanted to do with my life. It's never easy to decide what you want to do with your life at 17 or 18 years old, and most people change their minds a few times, but that is what colleges want you to do.
Once I started making decisions about college I realized that I had to work hard to go to the school that I really wanted to go to. All four years of high school I had been working hard for a purpose and never really known it. At that point I realized that everything we do in life has a purpose, whether we understand it at the time or not.

  1. I completely understand where you are coming from. I decided I wanted to major in math, just because it is my favorite subject. I'll probably end up changing it because I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Good idea.

  2. I can definitely relate. All through high school I never really thought about what kind of career or even major I would want to pursue, until the end of senior year. Now I realize how important it is to decide what I want to do with my life after college, because the way we perform these next four years is going to have a huge impact on how happy we are after we are done with school.

  3. Your learning experience seems to be that you realized the importance of your education beyond merely going through the motions after connecting academics to your future ambitions beyond high school. It definitely is easier to be motivated in academics if you can connect what you learn to a greater purpose. Further explore this purpose that you had been working toward in high school and use specifics in your paper.
