After reading both the articles “Is Google Making Us Stupid” and “Is Stupid Making Us Google” and realizing that the two articles have contradicting ideas, the logical points created in both articles are more similar that you would believe. The idea and argument that the internet is having a major development on the way we think and the amount that we actually read and understand is created throughout both articles. In the first article, Carr creates the idea that Google is having a negative effect on our brain because it allows us to become more easily distracted and actually reading is becoming more and more of a struggle for us. Even though it comes across as though Google and the internet are to a better extreme rather books and articles due to the seemingly endless supply of information, but on realistic terms we read and comprehend less than we should. In the second article “Is Stupid Making Us Google” written by Bowman, the argument is presented that the youth that are more inclined to use the internet are going to use it as a main source for all information and be less motivated to learn the information that is more common. Bowman considers the current youth more of a lazy generation and believes that they will be less likely to figure things out on our own and just immediately turn to the web consulting in help and instant information.
