Summaries- Samuel Owens

After reading both pieces of writing, I have very different opinions about each one. I enjoyed reading "Talking Up Close" by Deborah Tannen because it shad light on communication we often to do take the time to think about. For instance, how often do we really take the time to distinguish dominance in a relationship and then go on by seeing how it relates to communication. Also, I like how the first article explained that not every argument is negative because arguments can often be playful or used to show connections between people. The other article on the other hand, "Children’s Culture and Disney’s Animated Films", I did not enjoy as much because of the negative vibe it had and the way it degraded Disney. I personally have watched many Disney movies and my lifetime and have never once thought that the movies portray a male-dominant environment.
