Compare and Contrast
In both "Is Google Making US Stupid" and "Is Stupid Making Us Google" the authors describe how our generation has gotten lazy and uses tools such as google, and it is making us stupid. Older generations had to use textbooks to find information, and now everything is at our finger tips on the internet, and all we have to do is find a few key words to type in. I think the authors are a little bit cynical about the fact that it is so easy to find things on the internet nowadays. In "Is Google Making Us Stupid" the author says that it is harder for us to read books because we use the internet so often, whereas in "Is Stupid Making Us Google" the author suggests that the computer makes it harder to focus. Both articles basically suggest that the internet has corrupted us, and will only get worse with future generations.

The authors may have displayed their points in very harsh ways but I personally agree with their point. The facts are just thrown into your face on Google. You might temporarily remember them but there is no logical chain in your mind or background information to help with the memorization.
ReplyDeleteI agree with how they said its harder for our generation to read textbooks. I know for me, personally, it's hard for me to read a whole article without my mind going elsewhere, and often find myself having to re-read things multiple times.
